Supervisor II of Bookstore



Function:
The Supervisor II of the Bookstore is responsible for supervising and directing the purchase of general merchandise, assists the managing director when requested, and assumes specific responsibilities in the managing director's absence. This position also provides backup and support to all Retail Operation divisions on the Administrative level.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the retail merchandising process in the Bookstore.

2. Monitor the Bookstore budget regularly to ensure proper management of expenses.

3. Maintain a high level of customer service, including issue resolution, assisting staff and customers and staff scheduling.

4. Perform delegation of and monitor progress of tasks and projects assigned by the Managing Director to staff.

5. Assist with coordinating the fiscal year-end inventory and periodic inventory counts.

6. Assist the Managing Director in the performance of their duties when requested. Assume specific responsibilities in the absence of the Managing Director,

7. Coordinate updates for the Bookstore website, POS system and Inventory Control system as needed. Develop new Bookstore policies and procedures as well as coordinate with staff the updating of existing policies.

8. Provide backup and support to all Retail Operations divisions on the administrative level.

1. Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the requirements of the department.

Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Moderate noise.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Coursework must include 12 credit hours of business and/or accounting.

2. Proficiency using computer applications: Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook)

3. Minimum of one year of management experience (preferably retail management experience).

4. Minimum of one year Point of Sale system experience.

5. Exceptional customer service skills with a minimum of 1 year in a retail position

6. Ability to listen and communicate (written and verbal) utilizing excellent grammar.

7. Ability to interact with all levels of the college and clients/customers/vendors in a professional manner.

8. Ability to perform well under pressure at high levels in a fast paced ever-changing work environment.

9. Demonstrable skills to multitask, prioritize, work efficiently, and adhere to deadlines.

10. Ability to work independently and interdependently across departmental lines.

11. Well organized with a customer-oriented approach.

12. Accuracy and attention to detail including spelling and proof reading skills.

13. Ability to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

14. Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed by the department.
