FINANCIAL PROCESSOR - Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry

PAY GRADE: 27N

DEADLINE: Open until Filled

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under limited supervision of the Business Administrator II, performs a full range of complex financial activities. The principal emphasis is on coordination of financial record activities associated with Procard administration. A high level of independent judgment is required to resolve records systems problems, address appropriate application of inventory control procedures and address policy compliance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Procard Administration: Administers 100+ UD purchasing cards in a research-intensive environment; allocates charges and collects necessary supporting documentation; attends monthly credit card meetings; provides "Works" training to department personnel.
  • Verify allowability, allocability and reasonableness of charges as needed for contract and grant allocations.
  • Review and complete sign-off of employee reimbursements in Works.
  • Procurement: Processes requisition/vendor payment requests for equipment, supplies and services; identify and track fabrication transactions for capitalization process.
  • Affix asset inventory tag to capital equipment; complete equipment information on tag slip and return to Asset Management office.
  • Cost allocations: Tracks costs and prepares journal vouchers to distribute the following costs: nitrogen, ethyl alcohol, FedEx.
  • Receipts: Prepares cash transmittals for all check receipts and delivers checks to Cashier or
  • Gifts Processing Office.
  • Department Budget Review: Tag all non-personnel expenditures on the department's basic operating account with a department service code. Prepares correcting journal vouchers for charges incorrectly posted.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma/GED with three years of administrative or financial analysis experience.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, make independent decisions and judgments in keeping with the level of the position.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to use advanced techniques in Excel and database software.
  • Ability to adjust to a changing environment.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Broad knowledge of University's accounting system and credit card system "Works" preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of University's procurement policies, and travel & entertainment policies preferred.
