Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Director

The Department of Nursing in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa is seeking qualified candidates for a tenure track faculty position (open rank) as Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) director starting Fall 2018.

 

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 8,913 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. The University of Tampa’s DNP program is currently in development with the first class anticipated to start Fall2019/Spring 2020.  DNP director will be responsible for continued work in program development including: on-line course development, formulation of DNP student policy and procedures, development of scholarly project process, accreditation approvals.

 

Qualifications

·       An MSN and doctoral degree in nursing required.

·       Previous experience as DNP director highly preferred.

·       Experience in both on-line course development and on-line teaching required.

·       Experience as DNP scholarly project chair or project member required.

·       Evidence of teaching experience in an academic setting is required.  

·       National certification as an advanced practice nurse practitioner required.

·       Five (5) years or more of clinical practice as an advanced practice nurse practitioner required.

 

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to: excellence in graduate nursing education teaching, which includes teaching in both the DNP and MSN –NP program, mentoring of students, scholarly activity, and service within the environment of a private liberal arts institution. Typical teaching load is 12 contact hours in a 14-week semester; however, course teaching load will be adjusted and clinical release time will be allowed for this director’s position.
