Position Summary
The Director will partner with Middlebury leadership to help shape, design and facilitate diversity and inclusion orientation and trainings across Middlebury for students, staff and faculty. The Director will collaborate with the CDO and key stakeholders, especially the deans, to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion goals and priorities that directly affect academic, faculty, and student affairs.

Essential Functions
Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
Provides outreach, advice, training, and resources to campus leaders on diversity and inclusion practices to assist faculty, staff and students in creating an inclusive campus community.
Leads trainings with targeted outcomes around such topics as microaggressions, bias, cultural capacity, inclusive pedagogy, diversity hiring practices, etc.
Facilitates difficult conversations for the entire College community, and potentially for the broader Middlebury community in the future (including the Language Schools, Bread Loaf School of English, and the Institute in Monterey.)
Works on education and awareness programs around issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Develops metrics for measuring the effectiveness of Middlebury's diversity and inclusion initiatives and reports results to senior management on the value of the initiatives.
Maintains current knowledge of programs of diversity and inclusion by maintaining contact with professional organizations.

General Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned in order to ensure success of diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Education
A Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Needs to show demonstrated commitment and successful track record on diversity and inclusivity training. Background knowledge and training in Title VII, Title IX, and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to EEO/AA. Needs to have professional expertise as a facilitator in fostering diversity and inclusivity in higher education and capable of facilitating meetings and discussions among the faculty and the broader Middlebury community.

Experience
A minimum of eight years of related experience, including preparation and implementation of training materials and diversity initiatives. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Other:
We would welcome someone with an intersectional lens. Someone with experience in racial justice frameworks and social justice education. Knowledge and experience with restorative practices would be an asset.
