The Department of Surgery at VCU Health is actively recruiting for a dynamic physician to lead a renowned Division of Surgical Oncology within the Department of Surgery and to be the lead surgeon for the Massey Cancer Center, a NCI designated cancer center in Richmond, VA. The Division of Surgical Oncology, started in 1966, was the first academic surgical division dedicated to oncologic surgery at a university medical center in the United States.



The ideal candidate will be a dynamic surgeon scientist with an interest in immunotherapy for cancer or other translational oncology research. Significant innovative surgical approaches to cancer surgery with focus on hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery will be a plus. This role will require significant administrative effort to support the division and the cancer center. A teaching role for medical students, residents and fellows in the ACGME-accredited program in complex surgical oncology will also be important. The academic appointment with the VCU School of Medicine will be at rank of Associate Professor or Professor and will commensurate with experience.



VCU Health Medical Center, a 700 bed quaternary teaching hospital, is one of the largest and busiest academic centers in Virginia. Richmond and surrounding towns in Central Virginia include a population of 1.5 million and is the seat of the government of State of Virginia. It has a growing economy and excellent public schools to go with mild winters and easy access to many exciting destinations including Washington DC, Virginia Beach, Outer Banks- NC and Shenandoah National Park.
