Position Summary

The Department of Government and Legal Studies at Bowdoin College invites applications for a one-year full-time visiting assistant professor with a specialty in political theory for the 2018-19 academic year. A second year is possible pending administrative approval. Evidence of teaching excellence or promise, and scholarly engagement is expected; Ph.D. in hand by the date of appointment is preferred, though ABDs will be considered. Teaching load is two courses each semester. We seek candidates able to offer a broad range of courses in political theory, for example classical political philosophy, modern political philosophy, contemporary political philosophy, American political thought, or others in the applicant's area of research.
