VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - MECHANICAL ENGINEER

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Union College of Schenectady, NY invites applications for a 3-yr visiting assistant professor position starting September 1, 2018 for candidates who can teach a range of undergraduate courses and laboratories in material science and/or solid mechanics. Union College is a highly selective liberal arts college committed to integrating engineering and science with the humanities and social sciences in new and exciting ways. We are located in New York State's Capital Region, three hours from NYC and Boston. At Union, institutional expectations and support are balanced between teaching and research; the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching, supervising undergraduate research, and sustaining an independent research program. The position involves teaching two courses in each of three trimesters. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a related area; applicants close to finishing the Ph.D. will also be considered.
