About the School:
The School of Journalism and Strategic Media offers specialized sequences in news/editorial, advertising/public relations and broadcast. Summary of Job Duties
The School of Journalism and Strategic Media in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Digital and Multimedia Journalism. This position will teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and is expected to develop new journalism courses in digital and multimedia journalism. The successful candidate will carry a 2/2 teaching load, and also supervise Master's and Honors students developing theses using digital journalism tools.
The position is expected to establish and maintain a vigorous track record of nationally competitive research and/or creative publications in an area related to digital media and emerging journalistic practices.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

- Master's degree in journalism, advertising, public relations, mass communications, or a related field conferred by the start of employment, with significant professional and/or academic experience
- Recent professional experience relevant to digital and multimedia journalism, and/or strategic media
- University or college teaching experience
- Proven record of original research or creative work that demonstrates potential for a nationally competitive program of traditional or creative scholarship in a relevant area
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master of Fine Arts ( MFA ) in journalism, advertising, public relations, mass communications, or a related field
- Experience in digital and multimedia journalism as applied to investigative reporting, online interactive storytelling, as well as web publishing, social media, and social media analytics
- Experience in creating professional quality still images, video, and sound, and converging those elements to create multimedia interactive news stories
- Experience in creating and teaching the visual display of information in digital and interactive media, including the encoding of data by means of statistical charts, maps, and diagrams
- Experience in creating and teaching the fundamental computer programming skills required to create compelling online multimedia stories
