Director of Clinical Education for Doctor in Physical Therapy (DPT) Program



Description:

Associate Professor (Tenure-track) of Physical Therapy. The Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston is seeking an individual to serve as the Director of Clinical Education for a new Doctorate in Physical Therapy program that will welcome its inaugural class in fall 2019. The position consists of a 9-month academic year appointment and a 3-month summer administrative appointment.

Minimum qualifications are a post-professional degree in Physical Therapy ( DPT or PT); Current license to practice as a PT in any United States jurisdiction; minimum of three years of full time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice; and a minimum of two years of clinical practice as a CCCE and/or CI or two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT program. Candidate should have experience with CAPTE accreditation standards and procedures; demonstrate exceptional vision and organizational skills; effective oral and written communication; knowledge of contemporary issues in physical therapist education.

Preferred qualifications include a research-oriented Ph.D., experience in personnel supervision, budget management, and evidence of an extramurally funded research agenda in outcomes research, exercise physiology, physical activity or nutrition, or motor behavior/biomechanics. Desirable qualifications include a record of involvement in the American Physical Therapy Association and a demonstrated commitment to diversity.

The successful candidate will develop curriculum, obtain initial and sustained APTA accreditation, recruit faculty and oversee development of the DPT program; teach and perform research; manage faculty and staff and provide oversight of program budget.
