Located near many cultural and recreational resources in suburban Detroit, Oakland University
(http://www.oakland.edu) is a state university enrolling approximately 20,000 students. Given
metro Detroit’s myriad transportation avenues (including highways, railways, and waterways)
and its proximity to national and international borders, and the presence of many federal agency
field offices in Detroit, Oakland University is an ideal location for addressing issues of
corrections, homeland security, and terrorism.
Applications will be accepted at http://jobs.oakland.edu/postings/12374 and should include: a
cover letter, curriculum vitae, unofficial transcript, publications or examples of scholarly writing,
evidence of teaching effectiveness or potential, and three letters of recommendation to be
submitted directly by the letter-writers. The cover letter, or a separate document, must include a
statement on the candidate’s commitment to diversity. Specifically, candidates should describe
their efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in their previous positions and how they
plan to continue in this role at Oakland. An application is considered complete when all required
information is received. Please direct questions to Dr. Terressa Benz, Chair of the Search
Committee, at tbenz@oakland.edu. Review of applications begins January 1, 2018 and will
continue until the position is filled.
