Job Description:
Alfred State seeks an innovative leader for the position of Chair (10-month; compensation and rank commensurate with experience) in the Department of Allied Health.  The Department of Allied Health includes undergraduate programs in Health Information Technology (AAS), Coding & Reimbursement Specialist (Certificate), Radiologic Technology (AAS), Diagnostic Medical Sonography (AAS), and Healthcare Management (BTech).  The Chair will play a key role in promoting the development of these rapidly expanding programs, fundraising, and building partnerships with medical facilities.  The Chair is responsible for hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating department faculty and staff; overseeing academic programs; assigning teaching responsibilities; coordinating accreditation activities; directing course and program assessment; developing and overseeing budgets; and performing other essential functions.  In addition to these duties, the Chair will assume a 50% teaching load in a discipline represented within the department, with opportunities to develop new courses in his/her area of expertise.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctorate from an accredited university or Master's Degree with significant leadership in a healthcare organization
  • Leadership experience in a healthcare setting
  • Formal or informal teaching experience
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing disciplines within the department
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise the performance and work of others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited university
  • Experience with assessment and professional accreditation
  • Appropriate license/certificate required by the applicable professional agencies or state
