The Butler Library at Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Director of Libraries.
Required Qualifications:
- ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) degree in library information science or advanced degree with relevant experience.
- Demonstrated progressive management experience within a contemporary library operation.
- Documented track record of scholarship, publication, and professional service commensurate with appointment at associate librarian or full librarian rank.
- Demonstrated commitment to fulfilling the mission and values of a modern academic library, including activities which foster an evolving collection that supports the programmatic needs of a comprehensive institution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise all levels of staff while promoting teamwork through collaborative leadership.
- A record of commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record developing and maintaining digital library initiatives and virtualization of information services as well as promoting innovative tools for the utilization of information resources within the library and other instructional environments.
- Prior experience with enterprise-wide project planning, budget management and the use of assessment strategies to demonstrate effective use of resources.
- Proven ability to establish and sustain productive relationships with clientele, external donors, and vendors while managing agreements and contracts for services.
- Experience in collective bargaining environment.
