Position/Job Summary

Provide oversite and leadership for all aspects of our housing assignment processes and services including managing housing occupancy, overseeing the off-campus approval, self-selection and other room assignments processes, responding to student/parent housing concerns. Develop, revise, and implement fair and equitable campus housing policies and procedures; resolve housing assignment concerns, respond to special accommodation requests, and maintain occupancy records. Set-up and test the functionality of the housing self-selection system using RMS Mercury 3. Work collaboratively with key offices including the Office of Business Analytics and Institutional Research to develop housing projections, and reports, and to develop plans to manage campus occupancy. Develop and implement a comprehensive housing selection calendar and communication plan. Produce marketing materials and other communication in a variety of media to communicate about departmental processes and events. Serve as a member of the Residential Life and Judicial Affairs Management team including serving as a member of the on-call duty rotation.

Position/Job Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership in the management of the College's room assignment and housing services operations to include developing, implementing, and supervising all aspects of room/apartment selections, including the open housing policy, and planning and arranging temporary housing, if needed.

2. Develop and disseminate housing policies and procedures.

3. Oversee and approve room changes and reassignments and wait list for specific housing arrangements.

4. Serve as primary contact and liaison for other College offices and departments in the resolution of housing concerns and arranging for special needs and accommodations.

5. Respond to inquiries and concerns from students, parents, staff, and other college constituents regarding housing assignments and services. Provide counseling and mediation services for students with housing concerns, as required.

6. Coordinate off-campus application process. Ensure compliance with College policies and procedures regarding off campus housing requests. Supervise the off-campus approval process. Meet with students requesting an off-campus exception.

7. Coordinate housing and related services for special student populations; coordinate special requests for medical and psychological accommodations and concerns with the Health Center, Student Accessibility Services, Center for LGBT Education, Outreach and Services, and the Counseling Center.

8. Identify and propose strategies to manage on-campus housing occupancy. Prepare and maintain housing occupancy records; oversee the development and implementation of automated record keeping systems; maintain on-line and hard copy files and records. Ensure integration of college systems with the Housing Services systems and procedures.

9. Prepare housing projections, statistics, and other reports and participate in the development of short and long-term plans and in making decisions regarding housing needs, as well as departmental staff recruitment, budget issues, renovation plans, and public relations. Work closely with Enrollment Management in support of the projections.

10. Serve as the subject matter expert in the Student Information System and RMS software for processes and work flows as related to assignments, room changes, and student correspondence. Test, maintain, and train others on technological platforms (i.e., web-based systems, enterprise housing software, and websites). Understand and support staff in their use of the Operation Data Store ( ODS ).

11. Develop and produce marketing and other publications in a variety of media to communicate and publicize Residential Life and Judicial Affairs processes, programs and activities. Oversee departmental newsletters and other communications, various social media, public relations and outreach initiatives. Coordinate the development and maintenance of the Office of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs web site; maintain all on-line and web based information and data.

12. Develop, demonstrate, and promote multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as a college priority, communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that is civil and inclusive when interacting with all staff, faculty, students and visitors and promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment.

13. Assist in the development and administration of the Office of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs policies and procedures and assist in the communication and dissemination of information to staff and students.

14. Serve as a member of the Residential Life and Judicial Affairs management team; Serve in an on-call capacity and provide department-wide consultation to staff for departmental emergency and crisis issues.

15. Develop and implement staff training and development programs for student residence hall staff related to housing and other issues.

16. Serve on various department and campus-wide committees as appropriate.

Position/Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years management experience in a residential housing environment or related student services field; strong technological, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; the ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural difference; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive is required. A master's degree, previous experience in the area of housing assignments, familiarity with RMS housing software, and previous marketing/publications experience are preferred.
