Assistant Professor - Public Administration and Public Policy


The Department of Government and Politics in St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John's University (New York) is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Public Policy to begin in fall 2018.

The Department of Government and Politics

The Department of Government and Politics at St. John's University is a well-established department within the University's College of Arts and Sciences. With faculty covering all of the major Political Science subfields: American Government, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, and Public Administration; the Department seeks to educate its undergraduate and graduate students with a broad understanding of the discipline. The Department maintains Bachelors and Masters degree programs in Government and Politics, as well distinct programs in Public Administration. Although the core of the program is based on the University's main campus in Queens, New York, the Department also serves undergraduate students in Staten Island, New York, and graduate students in Rome, Italy.

Description of Responsibilities:

The Department of Government and Politics at St. John's University invites applications for a tenure track position in Public Administration and Public Policy. We seek individuals with research and teaching interests in public budgeting and finance. The applicant's background and interests should also be conducive to effective teaching of research methods and introductory American politics courses. The Department is particularly interested in applicants whose research interests address the intersection between public policy and inequality, social integration, or diversity as broadly understood. The Department and the University strongly encourages applicants from under-represented, and minority communities.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or Public Policy in hand, or should have a firm commitment to completion by May 2019. Applicants with later completion dates should be able to demonstrate their progress toward completion through references by their dissertation committee chairperson.
