Salary Range: $3,115 - $5,161 per month.

Position Description:
Cal Poly is seeking a Clinical Practice Coordinator for the School of Education!

The Position:
This position will provide critical support to our credential program coordinators to facilitate, plan, coordinate and track all aspects of our clinical practice placements. The Clinical Practice Coordinator (CPC) will have regular e-mail and phone contact with our many school sites to ensure that we are cultivating strong and mutually beneficial relationships. The CPC will make occasional visits to schools to meet school site personnel and will liaise with schools and school district offices over supporting paper work. The CPC will be responsible for tracking all clinical practice related data that is required for the School of Education's accreditation through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

The Department:
The School of Education (SOE) offers a range of educational programs including post-baccalaureate teaching credentials, advanced credentials and master's degrees. As an interdisciplinary unit, the SOE delivers its programs in partnership with departments in two other colleges, the Center for Engineering, Science and Mathematics Education (CESAME), in addition to school districts and county offices of education throughout our service area.

  • Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
    Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Type 45 wpm. Five years of general office support or technical experience. (Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience.).
    Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.


  • Required Qualifications:
    1. Demonstrated ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
    2. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently, and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.
    3. Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area.
    4. Ability to understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
    5. Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
    6. Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
    7. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
    8. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
    9. Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
    10. Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
    11. Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
    12. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
    13. Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    1. Teaching or administrative experience in a public school or school district.
    2. Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
    3. Demonstrated ability to anticipate organizational needs and independently initiate solutions.
    4. Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment in a timely manner, and to proceed toward creative solutions.
    5. Earned Bachelor' degree from an accredited institution in Education or related discipline.

    Special Conditions:

  • Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
  • Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
  • Must be able to safely move file boxes weighing up to 50 pounds from a hand truck or cart.
  • This position classification has been defined as non-exempt and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date. Employment of retired CalPERS members will typically be for 90 days or less and must be for work requiring specialized skills or for a bona fide emergency to prevent stoppage of business.

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

    May be required to complete a Supplemental Employment Application Questionnaire, which contains questions pertaining to conviction history, and submit it when requested by Cal Poly. This disclosure is confidential and will not necessarily preclude applicants from employment.
