Assistant Professor in Criminology

Summary of Position


The Department of Sociology and Criminology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Criminology to begin August 2018.
 

Minimum Requirements


A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice or Sociology in hand by the time of appointment and a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research are required. ABD’s will be considered however terminal degree must be granted prior to August 2018.
 

Preferred Qualifications


We are seeking to hire a generalist in criminology who complements our existing strengths. Preference may be given to candidates with teaching and research interests in criminological theory. Applicants should show evidence of a strong, independent research program, a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds, and excellence in teaching. There is an expectation for teaching in our graduate program, as well as contributing to our core undergraduate curriculum. Interest or experience in online teaching is also desirable.
 

Primary Function of Organizational Unit


The department has 21 full-time faculty members, roughly 350 undergraduate majors, and offers bachelor’s degrees in sociology and criminology (general and public), and an MA in Sociology and Criminology.
