Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Manager of Facilities for the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management and operation of the Riggs Alumni Center building, including employee office spaces, special event and public use spaces, and grounds. The Manager will oversee and manage large scale tasks associated with the facilities management of the alumni center including: vendor contract negotiations, building warranties and a $500,000/year operating budget using spreadsheets and/or financial software programs. S/he will also monitor building infrastructure, housekeeping, maintenance, and repairs. Using professional communications, the Manager will establish policies and procedures for building usage. Periodically, the Manager may be required to assist with building maintenance tasks including painting, minor building repairs, and event setup. The Manager of Facilities supervises full-time staff and contract staff.

S/he must be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary for building projects and be on-call for 24-hours for building emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Experience:

Minimum of five years of facilities experience.
Supervisory experience.
Experience operating audiovisual equipment.
Experience managing vendor contracting and facilities budget.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstration of a service-oriented and cooperative spirit.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to utilize a computer and MS Office Suite for word processing, manipulating spreadsheets and/or use financial software to manage budgets and other expenditures and use electronic communications, and automated programs for managing the facility.
Ability to respond to the 24-hour on-call nature of managing a complex facility and to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Preferences:

Experience managing budget of $500,000 or more.
Experience managing a facility of 50,000 square feet or larger.
Broad range of facilities experience.
