Open Rank Professor of Communication Studies

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Houston-Downtown invites applications to fill an open-rank faculty position as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Communication Studies in Organizational/Corporate Communication. The candidate will join the Department of Arts and Communication and teach within a rapidly growing program offering a B.A. in Communication Studies with developing concentrations in Corporate Communication, Rhetorical / Public Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Health Communication, along with minors in Communication Studies and interdisciplinary minors in Film Studies, Religious Studies, and Gender Studies.

 

Open Rank Professor of Communication Studies – Organizational/Corporate Communication [FAC000330]

 

The successful applicant will provide leadership in instruction, research, and service; a record of external funding is a plus. Primary duties include teaching a range of undergraduate communication courses with a special focus in organizational and corporate communication, such as Organizational Communication, Communication and Leadership, and Training and Development. Additional duties include assistance with the development of a Graduate program in Communication Studies.  The ability to sustain an active research and publishing agenda in Organizational/Corporate Communication and display an ongoing commitment to committee work and community involvement is critical.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Communication with a relevant area of emphasis in organizational/corporate communication.  If applying for Associate or Full Professor, applicants should have an established scholarly publication and teaching record commensurate with the qualifications for associate or full professor.
