Job Summary

The Administrative Assistant II supports the Associate Vice President and Leadership Gift Officers who travel frequently to work with Bowdoin alumni and parents. Key functions of the position include providing administrative, clerical, and organizational support with the highest degree of accuracy and confidentiality, with tasks ranging from: coordinating travel and meetings; managing calendars; assisting with fundraising reports and donor communication; data management; and support for event planning and overall office operations within the entire Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Education/Skills Requirements

At least two years of administrative support experience in an office environment is required. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, and a college degree or course work is preferred.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

A successful candidate must possess: excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong typing, grammar and spelling skills; excellent phone manner; the ability to maintain organized records; and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while working under the pressure of details and deadlines with a degree of flexibility. The Administrative Assistant II must also have: a strong sense of teamwork; the capacity to maintain confidentiality; the ability to communicate with a variety of constituencies on behalf of the College; and the capability to prioritize work and operate independently.

Standard Work Days and Hours

8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with one hour for lunch (37.5 hours per week, with occasional overtime)
