Job Summary

This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position. The Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant is expected to provide professional collection services to Bowdoin College students. This individual will facilitate collection and processing of clinical laboratory specimens, accurately coordinate laboratory services, and provide technical and clerical support while ensuring efficient operations and promoting positive staff and patient relations.

This individual will also provide clinical support to the Health Center operations, including taking the vital signs of patients, assisting with the general maintenance and upkeep of the Health Center, including stocking exam rooms, medical supplies, and the self-care area.

Education/Skills Requirements

A high school degree or GED equivalent is required; an associate's degree from an accredited Medical Assistant's training program or a degree from an accredited Licensed Nurse training program is preferred.

Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with a wide spectrum of students. Proficiency with computers and the ability and willingness to learn specialized software for electronic medical records is necessary.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Experience with ER, acute care or adolescents preferred.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Varied days, part-time or on an on-call, as needed basis.
