The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (“LDF”) is currently seeking a Chief
Operations Officer (COO) who is mission-focused, energetic, results-oriented, and experienced and competent in directing nonprofit or business operations and the implementation of strategic initiatives. The COO will work with the President and Director-Counsel and with the Associate Director-Counsel on the overall strategic planning process and will oversee the implementation of the strategic plan throughout the organization, while also having day-to-day operational responsibility for LDF’s programs, including assisting in the supervision and management of program and departmental directors.

The COO must have experience effectively working with a fast-paced, executive management team and successfully developing a culture of performance and excellence among a group of diverse, talented, and mission-driven individuals. The COO must also be a leader who is able to help others deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make LDF’s organizational vision a reality. The successful COO will have the skills, sensitivity and personality to confidently tap into the power that each member of the LDF team brings to the organization and help all team members attain their potential in advancing LDF’s mission.

This position will be located in LDF’s New York office and reports to the President and Director-Counsel and to the Associate Director-Counsel
