Asian American Studies Program Full-time Lecturer

The Asian American Studies Program at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the position of full-time Lecturer in Sociology or a related social science, beginning Fall 2018. The appointment will be for an initial year with the possibility of annual renewal for up to an additional two years, contingent upon a satisfactory performance review and approval of the Dean. The course load will be two courses each semester (Fall and Spring).
Applicants should hold a PhD, and quantitative and qualitative approaches are welcome. The successful candidate will be able to convey research developments in Asian American studies as well as broader conceptualizations of race and ethnicity in the US to undergraduates at all levels. Duties include: teaching introductory surveys of Asian Americans in contemporary society and US race and ethnic relations, as well as seminars that require directing undergraduate research; playing an active role in curriculum development; taking part in scholarly and cultural events.
