Portifolio Information Managers

PORTFOLIO INFORMATION MANAGERS

The University of Illinois Foundation has an immediate opening for (2) Portfolio Information Managers.  Reporting to the Director of Research and Portfolio Management, the position provides strategic prospect and portfolio research and analysis in support of private fundraising efforts by the Foundation and University and in accordance with University of Illinois Development Program values.  Serving as a liaison between Foundation, development program, and university partners, the Portfolio Information Manager is responsible for managing the prospect identification and portfolio development for selected University Units or Advancement functions, developing strategies for both short- and long-term pipeline success.

One Manager will be located in Chicago, IL and one will be located in Urbana, IL.  Please be sure to apply for the correct position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and monitor the potential and effectiveness of relationships between prospects and the institution, and assist in the development of business process improvements to optimize those relationships and maximize the efficiency of moving prospects through the pipeline.
  • Leverage analytical tools, multi-industry prospecting resources, in-house and University libraries, and online databases to discover new individual and organizational prospects
  • Fulfill user requests in line with strategic and leadership direction of the development program,
  • Liaise with Foundation, development program, and university partners.
  • Review call report, pipeline, portfolio, staffing, and critical engagement and advancement data to ensure data aligns with entry standards, applicable laws, and advancement strategy.
  • Participate in prospect strategy sessions as well as departmental, university unit, and campaign management meetings. Lead and participate in development program-wide projects to supplement and clean advancement data for high quality prospecting.
  • Assist departmental colleagues in preparing formatted biographies for top academic and development leadership.
  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations and activities; read professional literature to stay current with trends in the field; identify and circulate new information sources; understand general fundraising principles.
  • Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Baccalaureate degree in an appropriate subject is required. A Master's degree in Library, Information Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related area is preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in business development, marketing, sales, or fundraising
  • Experience in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Strong analytical thinking and desire to match user experience with economies of scale in data analytics.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend, explain, and operationalize complex data sets and analyses, to appropriately manage and communicate sensitive information, to match user experience with economies of scale in data analytics, and to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Familiarity with general information research techniques, methodology and online resources.
  • Experience with database maintenance and retrieval.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to formulate productive partnerships with individuals and groups of all levels of University staff.
  • Experience with financial and/or statistical analysis and understanding of financial sectors and marketing trends is a plus.
  • Preferred candidate will be a results-driven, fast learner who is self-motivated, can concurrently manage and reprioritize multiple projects, and who brings experience from a variety of functional areas across an enterprise.
