Asst, Assoc or Prof, Department of Pharmacy

Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of assistant, associate, or full professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. This full-time tenure track position is a 12-month appointment. The individual in this position will contribute to teaching, service, and scholarship supporting the mission and vision of McWhorter School of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Teaching responsibilities include didactic and experiential instruction in the required curriculum with opportunities to teach electives.  The successful candidate will provide didactic and experiential teaching, maintain a clinical practice, develop high-impact scholarly works, submit extramural grants to support high-impact scholarship, contribute to committee service, and complete other duties as assigned. 

Qualified candidates must have a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited U.S. school of pharmacy, and have completed two years of postgraduate training (residency or fellowship) or completed a PGY1 residency with extensive clinical, research, and/or teaching experience. Candidates must have the necessary experience and credentials to practice in an inpatient hospital-based internal medicine setting in the greater Birmingham area. Candidates must exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management and organization skills, attention to detail, and dedication to student-centered education. The candidate must embrace the vision of Samford University, the College of Health Sciences, McWhorter School of Pharmacy and the profession-wide goal where pharmacists provide patient care that optimizes the use of medication and promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention. Candidates must be willing to support the university’s Christian mission.

Academic rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications, previous research and teaching involvement, and scholarship accomplishments. Preference will be given to candidates who have extensive academic experience, a strong record of research/scholarship, potential for funded research, and board certification awarded by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: Ida Moffett School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, School of Health Professions, and School of Public Health. The college offers multiple degree programs and majors within the health sciences with an interprofessional education focus that reflects today’s team approach to health-care delivery and professional practice. college faculty will have special opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
