Faculty Position in Experimental Particle Physics

The University of Maryland Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in experimental particle physics. A more senior level position may be considered for exceptional candidates.

The Department has a broad research program in fundamental physics, including accelerator-based and non-accelerator particle and nuclear physics, particle astrophysics and gravitational wave physics. For this position, we seek candidates with interest in flavor physics to join our effort in the LHCb experiment at the CERN LHC collider. The successful candidate is expected to take a major role in our program on the upgrade of the LHCb detector as well as future developments of the experiment at the High Luminosity phase of LHC.

We expect that successful candidates will complement the existing experimental and theoretical strengths in the department. The preferred starting date for the position is August of 2018.
