The Division of Mass Communication is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Mass Communication, supporting the B.S. program in Television and Film, commencing September 1, 2018.

The Program of Television and Film of the Division of Mass Communication delivers a BS in Television and Film. Faculty focus on key areas of skill development that include directing and producing for film and/or TV, camera, editing, sound design, visual special effects, animation, critical thinking, oral and written expression, team work, leadership and employment readiness. Responsibilities: This is a teaching focused position (teaching 12 credit hours per semester) with opportunities for course reductions based on creative professional activity or research. Industry involvement, creative professional activity, and/or research productivity are important but secondary to a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement. Division faculty are expected to participate in academic advisement, student mentoring, academic assessment, and other activities as required by the Chair and/or Dean. Candidates must exhibit potential for professional growth in their discipline.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess:

• Master's or Master of Fine Arts degree in one of the following postproduction fields: film production, television production, digital media, digital arts, animation, or virtual reality/augmented reality
• A minimum of least five years of work experience in reputable media companies with professional focus on and expertise in postproduction and relevant skills
• Experience teaching undergraduate classes in postproduction of film, television, or digital media programs of college level. Area of expertise is open: digital visual effects, animation, VR/AR, motion graphics, color correction.

Preference will be given to candidates that have experience teaching graduate courses and/or possess extensive industry experience. Candidates should be familiar with relevant technologies, software, hardware, protocols, formats, business, and culture of the postproduction industry and be able to integrate this into their teaching pedagogy.
