Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Radiologist

The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty in the Section of Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Imaging within the Department of Radiology. The Department is recruiting this postion open rank/ open track, with appointment being commensurate with experience and interest. The successful candidate may be appointed at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor on either the clinical or tenure track commensurate with experience.
 

Applicants must have four years post-doctoral training in radiology and be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Radiology. Applicants must also be on track for board certification in the first year post training, and and have completed a formal fellowship or equivalent training in Thoracic Imaging radiology.

 

Candidates must have experience in all aspects of Thoracic radiology. Leadership experience and a demonstrated facility for teaching is highly desirable.The successful applicant will join a dynamic and growing clinical service covering all aspects of thoracic and non-invasive cardiovascular imaging. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clinicians, patients and trainees are required. Extensive collaborations with pulmonary medicine, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, radation oncology, infectious disease and the NCI designated Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center provide a very rich and rewarding academic environment. A broad range of teaching opportunities are provided through the integrated health sciences campus of the University of Iowa.

 

The successful candidate will have a commitment to scholarly work and will participate in mentored research acitivities in collaboration with established researchers in the Iowa Institute of Biomedical Imaging (IIBI), Iowa Comprehensive Imaging Center (ICLIC) and the Advanced Pulmonary Physiomic Imaging Lab (APPIL). The IIBI is overseen by Radiology and includes 3T and 7T research scanners. Up to 40% protected time may be provided for research activities.

 

The Radiology Department includes 37 staff physicians, 13 fellows, 15 Ph.D. researchers, and 33 residents. The Department operates six clinical MDCT scanners including the Seimens Force.There are six clinical MR scanners (including a 3T) and 2 PET-CT scanners. Construction is approved for a PET/MR and a second Force CT scanner.
