TEACHING INSTRUCTOR

Job Description: East Carolina University seeks an individual to fill a nine-month Teaching Instructor in the Recreational Therapy program of the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies (RCLS) within the College of Health and Human Performance effective August, 2018.

Teach in the undergraduate Recreational Therapy (RT) degree program with opportunities to teach in the RCLS professional core. Contribute to the advancement and promotion of Recreational Therapy degree programs, supervise Recreational Therapy student field experiences, mentor students on academic procedures and career goals, and engage in outreach with the health care community. Expectations include instructional support, internship supervision, continuance of CTRS/LRT certification/licensure, and service to the university, community, and profession.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree required with at least one degree or emphasis/concentration in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy. NCTRC certification as CTRS required. Applicant must obtain licensure as a Licensed Recreational Therapist in North Carolina prior to employment (www.ncbrtl.org). The candidate will complement or build upon at least one program area including: gerontology, behavioral/mental health, adapted sports, physical rehabilitation, youth development, aquatic therapy, or psychophysiology.
