Position Announcement
The faculty of the Department of Theatre and Dance at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure Track position in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching four undergraduate courses per semester from the following: All levels of Jazz, Tap, and Modern with the ability to teach from the following: ballet, Latin social, ballroom, hip-hop, Middle Eastern, and African Dance. Other courses may include: Music for Dance, courses related to musical theatre, Somatics, Dance for Children, Choreography, Dance Perceptions, Dance History, Dance Production. Choreograph and/or serve as artistic director for one to two faculty and student dance concerts &/or a Musical Theatre production. Choreograph or facilitate performances for additional on and off-campus events, festivals, etc. Other duties include curriculum development, student advisement for Dance majors/minors, participation in developing department procedures and guidelines, involvement in student recruitment, involvement in ACDA, and committee service at the department, college and university level. Faculty will be expected to continue their creative work and/or professional activities.
Department of Theatre and Dance
The Theatre & Dance Program offers courses in the fields of acting, dance, directing, choreographing, design and technical theatre, theatre and dance history, dramatic literature, speech, and others. Course requirements for both the major and the minor programs provide for flexibility and allow students considerable choice in planning their academic careers.
Theatre Arts Majors (Theatre Arts and Dance Options) and Theatre and Dance Minors participate in the department's ambitious production program through acting, dance, scenic design and construction, lighting, stage management, box office, and other areas. Academic credit is provided for such participation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
MFA or equivalent in Dance or related discipline by the date of appointment;
Evidence of an active performance record or equivalent professional experience;
Ability to teach lower and upper division jazz, tap, modern dance, and choreography;
Ability to teach from the following: ballet, multi-cultural dance forms, music for dance, dance production, dance for children, somatics, dance history, dance appreciation, somatics, and other related courses;
Ability to serve as artistic director for two or more dance concerts per academic year;
Ability to choreograph for dance concerts and musical theatre productions;
Proficient in PC and Mac, Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.;
Experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including adoption of appropriate pedagogical strategies for diverse populations.
The Department of Theatre and Dance seeks an enthusiastic individual who is sensitive to the diversity of the student body at California State University Dominguez Hills.
Preferred Qualifications
MFA or PhD in Dance with a demonstrated record of excellent teaching of dance technique, dance history and related academic courses, and choreographing at the college/university level;
Professional experience as a concert &/or musical theatre performer and choreographer;
Evidence of successful research and/or artistic productions (i.e. producing professional concerts, choreographing for concerts &/or musical theatre, etc.);
Demonstrated record of excellent teaching of lower and upper division jazz, tap, modern dance, and choreography;
Experience to teach from the following: ballet, multi-cultural dance forms, music for dance, dance production, dance for children, somatics, dance history, dance appreciation, somatics, and other related courses;
Professional experience to serve as the artistic director/choreographer for two or more dance concerts per year, to choreograph musical theatre productions and have experience working with scenic, lighting, sound designers;
Proficient in PC and Mac, Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
Experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including adoption of appropriate pedagogical strategies for diverse populations.
