The Section of Hematopathology at the University of Utah is seeking an academically oriented board certified AP/CP pathologist with board certification/eligibility in Hematopathology at the assistant, associate or full professor level. Expertise in the interpretation of bone marrow and lymph nodes is essential. The successful candidate who will join the hematopathology section should possess strong morphologic diagnostic skills and be proficient in the use of flow cytometry, cytogenetic, and molecular techniques used in the clinical work-up of cases. Duties will include teaching house staff and fellows, participating in Hematopathology related clinical services and promoting academic mission of the Department. Significant experience in subspecialty areas such as flow cytometry or molecular hematopathology would be particularly attractive. The relative distribution of research / teaching / administrative duties / patient care responsibilities will be tailored to the successful applicant's experience and career goals.

The Hematopathology Section at the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories offers diagnostic consultative services and a comprehensive testing menu for the evaluation of hematologic disorders and offers an ACGME -accredited fellowship program in hematopathology. The Hematopathology Faculty consist of nationally and internationally known experts whose expertise spans many different subspecialties of hematopathology including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, cytogenetics, coagulation, and molecular diagnostics. An integrated approach is utilized to provide clients with services ranging from test interpretation and selection to comprehensive histomorphologic diagnosis. Through an active consultation service, an affiliated national reference laboratory, and study cases from Children's Oncology Group and Southwestern Oncology Group, the hematopathology section processes approximately 4,500 tissue cases per year. High volume, state of the art, services in the areas of coagulation, hemoglobin analysis, flow cytometric analysis, and molecular hematopathology are managed by the Hematopathology faculty.
