Director of Nursing Program



Function:
Provide overall direction of the College's Nursing Program. Plan, develop policy and provide periodic review of program effectiveness; manage Nursing Department budget, maintain program accreditation and ensure program compliance with regulatory agencies. Direct the preparation of skilled healthcare professionals, teach courses and supervise faculty.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the Nursing (NUR) program.

2. Maintain NUR program accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and state program approval through the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (IDPR).

3. Develop and maintain affiliations with clinical agencies and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

4. Develop curriculum and enhance instruction within the NUR department, teach courses where applicable.

5. Monitor NUR program budget, purchase equipment and supplies, maintain student lab and equipment.

6. Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate NUR faculty and clinical instructors.

Physical Demands:
Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Moderate noise.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Required Qualifications:
1. Master's degree or higher with a major in nursing.

2. Licensed as registered professional nurse in Illinois or willing to obtain license transfer to Illinois.

3. Two (2) years of experience in clinical nursing practice.

4. Two (2) years of experience as an instructor in a nursing education program.
