Director of Social Media (Publicity/Marketing Coordinator), UCP 4



The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics is seeking applications for the full time position of Director of Social Media. The Director of Social Media is responsible for developing comprehensive social media campaigns and the day-to-day execution of multiple social media platforms utilizing engaging, interactive and multimedia content to reach multiple audiences. The Director of Social Media will work with several department units to serve a variety of audiences and stakeholders and lead strategy execution and content creation, aggregation and distribution.

The successful candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a member of the team. Must understand social media platforms and able to think creatively and analytically and will be required to employ innovative tools and techniques. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, with the ability to be detail-oriented, problem-solve and handle numerous projects simultaneously in a timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Responsibilities include oversight of the department's social media strategy and activities, assess and measure integrated digital campaigns, standalone programs and one-time projects with the ability to provide relevant analysis and recommendations.

Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends. Possible travel with sport teams for select away contests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field, or Associates degree and two-to-four years' experience in marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Professional experience in digital and social media and hands-on web communications, design and development experience.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of industry-standard software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  4. Expertise in planning, managing and executing social and digital media initiatives.
  5. Ability to work independently, think strategically and creatively with minimal supervision, adjust to changing circumstances, organize time efficiently and remain attentive to details.
  6. Strong communication, organization and management and leadership skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Minimum one-to-two years' of experience in the marketing, video or communications field.
  2. Experience with content management systems as well as web development experience using HTML and CSS.
  3. Proficiency with graphic design and video editing software.
