Associate/Senior Assistant Director of Admission

Wellesley College, a premier liberal arts and sciences college for women located twelve miles west of Boston, invites applications for the position of Associate Director/Senior Assistant Director of Admission. The Associate Director, in consult with the Director of Admission and collaboration with the Admission Senior Team, provides leadership in the development and implementation of the College’s recruitment plan for under-represented, first-year student populations.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Coordinates and directs the efforts of admission staff (with the help of faculty, students, parents, secondary school representatives, and alumnae) to enroll talented students from diverse experiences and backgrounds.

2. Serves as primary liaison for, and manager of, Wellesley’s QuestBridge Scholars Program.

3. Responsible for regularly analyzing the needs and effectiveness of diversity recruitment efforts and may conduct quantitative analysis in support of these efforts.

4. Serves as primary liaison to, and works collaboratively with, other campus offices and staff that support the College’s diversity recruitment efforts, including the Student Financial Services Office, Class Deans’ Office, and cultural advisers.

5. Responsible for supervising and managing the efforts of the Diversity Recruitment Team that includes an Assistant Director and operations team support.

6. General admission responsibilities include travel for high school visits, parent/student gatherings, and college fairs; group presentations and interviews with prospective students; and reading and evaluation of applications for admission.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or enrollment in master’s degree or post-baccalaureate certificate program preferred. Four to five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in higher education administration or related field. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills required. Demonstrated program/project management skills and ability to work independently and lead a team is required. Title will be commensurate with experience and education.

The position requires knowledge of and enthusiasm for the College’s mission and niche in higher education, sensitivity to multicultural issues, a commitment to building a socioeconomically diverse applicant pool, and an understanding of differences in students’ secondary school backgrounds. Candidates fluent or proficient in Spanish language are encouraged to apply.

Demonstrated interest in, and experience with, digital technologies to reach prospective students a plus.

Regular evening and weekend work required. Must be available to travel out of state several weeks annually. Candidates must possess valid driver’s license.
