Job Summary:
The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL) at Skidmore College invites applications for a half-time, ten-month Coordinator of Jewish Student Life. Primary responsibilities will include the planning, implementation, and assessment of annual goals that enhance Jewish student life on campus; advising relevant student groups including Skidmore Hillel; and managing collaborations with other offices and groups including the Office of Student Diversity Programs, Dining Services, the Office of the Dean of Special Programs, and local Jewish congregations. The advising responsibilities require a background in Jewish learning and/or religious leadership. Jewish student life at Skidmore encompasses a wide range of religious and cultural expressions and the Coordinator will be expected to welcome and navigate differing views on observance, politics, and tradition. The Coordinator will support programming that provides opportunities for students and the wider Skidmore community to learn about and participate in Jewish life and cross-cultural engagement. Such programming ranges from weekly Shabbat dinners to hosting discussions with visiting scholars.

This position entails a balance of administration, communications, education, and leadership development. Ideal candidates will have experience and skills in each of these areas as well as interest in and experience with young adult populations and multi-faith and secular settings. Depending on time, qualifications, and interest the Coordinator may also contribute to the ORSL's broader work in interfaith collaboration, promotion of multi-faith literacy, pastoral care and counseling, and social justice initiatives. The Coordinator of Jewish Student Life will be supervised by the Director of Religious and Spiritual Life.

The schedule, though generally flexible, will require some meetings and events during our regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30) and some weekend and evening programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, with educational background in Jewish religion and culture and significant experience with program coordination, including event planning and independent project leadership. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates for the position will have significant training in Jewish studies, education, and/or religious leadership as well as experience working with youth and young adults in leadership development and spiritual contexts. Religious ordination is not required, but applications are welcome from candidates with religious training and leadership experience, including rabbis or those in rabbinical training.
