has an immediate opening for an

IT Specialist

The University of Illinois Foundation is offering a full-time opening for the position of IT Specialist.  This person will work in a team environment to procure, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops/tablets for the Foundation. This person supports the Foundation’s use of primarily Windows-based desktops/laptops, with some added support for conference rooms, A/V equipment and printers.  This position is also responsible for general desktop application and computing support. 

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably with a technical focus)
  • A minimum of four years professional work experience in an IT environment
  • Experience supporting systems in a Microsoft computing environment (Windows/Active Directory/Exchange/Office)
  • Extensive knowledge of desktop installation, security, deployment, and automation
  • Basic knowledge of IT security concepts like access control, authentication, and authorization

Preferred qualifications:

  • Independent problem solving skills and an ability to fully diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Experience with a ticket-based work management system
  • Ability to efficiently balance IT security with general productivity
  • Enterprise level workstation management
  • Solid experience supporting conference room technologies
  • Solid analytical abilities and a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A general understanding of fundraising operations
  • Experience with supporting technologies utilized in a major university and/or in the banking/financial industry
