BRODY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - - DIRECTOR OF PIPELINE PROGRAMS

Job Description: The office supports the mission of the school of medicine by helping create diverse working and learning environments for our students, residents, administration, faculty and staff. Literature has shown that diversity is necessary for the delivery of high quality education and among health care professionals, improves access to care for underserved populations.

This position is responsible for planning and oversight of pipeline programs aimed at increasing the interest of middle/high school students in careers in medicine, and enhancing enrollment of prospective medical students into Brody School of Medicine. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, the person in this position is charged with developing, managing and directing all operations, procedures and policies related to academic programs and non-academic programs.

These programs will consist of, but are not limited to, academic advising; presentations at new student orientation and preview sessions; recruitment presentations relating to undergraduate programs of study at East Carolina University (ECU) and other colleges and universities in North Carolina; tutoring; study groups; interview workshops; career shadowing; professional development workshops; standardized test preparatory programs; advisory committee oversight; and summer residential and enrichment programs.


Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor's degree and five years experience or the equivalent combination of education and related experience. Work background should include a combination of the following:

Experience in educational program building, managing complex educational programs at the middle school level or higher, and working with diverse stakeholders including community educators and partners.

Experience in programs designed to reduce barriers to admission and increase success in college and medical school for a diverse pool of students including those who are disadvantaged or underrepresented in medicine.
