Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Senior Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations, working closely with the Assistant Dean for Development & Alumni Relations of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, will provide leadership for development-related activities for the college's major strategic philanthropic initiatives by securing significant financial support from corporations, foundations and in a few instances, individuals.

In collaboration with deans, chairs, and key faculty, the Senior Director will develop comprehensive strategies to foster stronger relationships with the current and prospective corporate donors, in order to solicit gifts at the level of $50,000+, and to ensure proper recognition of our corporate partners.

As a collaborative partner, the Senior Director will become a subject matter expert in order to cultivate and solicit new, multifaceted institutional partnerships at all levels and maximizing the return on investment by our partners.

The Senior Director will serve as a member of both the University Relations and the Smith School Development & Alumni Relations teams as a frontline fundraiser.

Some evening and weekend hours required. Frequent local travel, and occasional national travel, required (up to 50%).

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor's degree.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of successful fundraising, membership development or sales experience.
Experience working with high-level corporate/foundation representatives; building donor/customer and prospect relationships and developing stewardship activities.
Experience soliciting and closing gifts of six figures or more.
Experience writing proposals, grants and/or sponsorship materials.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of a successful stewardship program.
Ability to liaise across campus and within different departments at the Smith School.
Ability to represent the University in a highly professional, collaborative and effective manner.
Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to synthesize complex material and have a great attention to detail.
Ability to managing many projects simultaneously, and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
Strong customer service ethic.
Ability to work with diverse groups of constituents and colleagues.

Preferences:

Master's degree.
Experience working with senior executives, volunteers, senior administration and faculty.
Understanding of, and commitment to, the values and role of a public, research university.
Experience in working with highly technical information.
Experience in higher education and/or industry.
Experience managing contact reports within CRMs such as Advance and/or Salesforce.
