NURSE MANAGER

Job Description: The Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Manager to work in the plastic surgery outpatient clinic. The key responsibilities of this position include coordination of all pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients, patient and family education, and communication with all members of the health care team.

Responsibilities include leadership and management of nurses, programs, resources, and research programs. The Nurse Manager supervises a specific site and is responsible for nursing care provided there.

Duties of this position include the following:
*Responsible for managing and maintaining Quad A certification (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc.) for on-site OR.
*Manages and supervises clinic and office staff including nurses, medical office assistants, administrative assistants, and other temporary staff. Approves their work schedules and oversees daily operations.
*Works closely with Patient Access for scheduling patient and ensuring efficient clinic flow.
*Participates in a variety of personnel management functions including employee selection, disciplinary action, counseling, and performance evaluation.
*Responsible for staff training and development.
*Develops standards for patient care and delivery of service to ensure quality of nursing care.
*Participates in decision-making concerning financial aspects of the site including monitoring clinic costs, and ensuring that equipment and supply needs are met for the clinics and the operating rooms.
*Expected to be knowledgeable of and to ensure compliance with institutional, state, federal, and other regulatory agencies standards, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to include DEA certificates and handling/ordering of narcotics.


CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.


The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.


Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a state-accredited school of registered nursing and three years of nursing experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Special Instructions to Applicants: If a qualified Nurse Manager is not identified, will consider filling as a Nurse Specialist.

If a candidate is not identified as full time, then the selected candidate may opt to work a 32 hour a week schedule.

This position is subject to the Broad Banding Salary Administration Plan. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
