Position Summary:

Monmouth University is seeking a Lead Writing Counselor for the Write on Sports (WoS) program. In partnership with the Write on Sports (WoS) organization, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Monmouth University is offering a two-week summer camp dedicated to equipping 10-20 middle school students with writing skills by tying together their passion of sports. The program aims at encouraging young students within the community to exercise their passion for journalism in a fun and creative, yet higher-education setting. The WoS camp at Monmouth University will be held from July 31st-August 11th.

Write on Sports was founded in 2005 by Byron Yake, a former sports writer in Pittsburgh for the Associated Press (AP) and later Sports Editor and senior executive of the AP, based in New York. Understanding that the middle school years are critical times for students, Write on Sports and affiliate programs are designed to help students develop the necessary set of skills that can be applied to academic areas beyond sports writing.
