About the Department:
The Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism offers specialized sequences in news/editorial, advertising/public relations and broadcast. Students are trained in writing news, analyzing media, planning campaigns, producing television programs and basic photojournalism publishing. The department offers special interdisciplinary options, various student media organizations, award-winning faculty and a Center for Ethics in Journalism.

Summary of Job Duties
The Walter J. Lemke Depart Arts and Sciences, University of Arkansas, invites nominations and applications for an Assistant Director of the Center for Ethics in Journalism, beginning in Fall 2017.
The Assistant Director will report to the Director of the Center for Ethics in Journalism and will help the following:

• Managing the day-to-day functioning of the Center and implementing policy decisions in conjunction with the Journalism Department Chair and the Center's Steering Committee.
• Handling planning of Center-sponsored events, such as public lectures by the Visiting Distinguished Professor, ethics workshops, and the Distinguished Professor's schedule.
• Overseeing maintenance of the technology and content of the Center's website and managing the Center's social-media campaign.
• Creating a plan to promote the Center on campus, in the local community, and among journalism professionals and educators in the state and region.
• Developing the Center's research mission and procuring grants and other funding.

The Assistant Director will also teach up to two courses per semester as needed in the Journalism Department. Likely courses may include a section of Ethics in Journalism, News Reporting I, Fundamentals of Journalism, or web skills. This is a nine-month non-tenure-track instructor position.

• Master's degree in journalism or a related field conferred by the start of employment
