Job Summary

The Department of Theater and Dance at Bowdoin College seeks a Theater and Dance Technology Designer with expertise in digital media, projection, and lighting design for theater and dance performance.
The Technology Designer is responsible for designing digital media or lighting for one departmental production each semester, and will collaborate with other Technical Staff in executing the lighting, media, and sound for all department productions as well as maintaining lighting inventory and equipment. The Designer will also supervise work-study students in lighting and media (and sound, if appropriate), and train and supervise student designers and board operators in the most current hardware and software environments. The Theater & Dance Technology Designer may supervise independent student design projects and provide technical support for College events as needed. Education/Skills Requirements

BA required; MFA preferred.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated media, lighting design, and electrics experience for theater and dance required; some experience working with students preferred. Experience with software such as Isadora, Vectorworks, Lightwright, or comparable programs required. BA required; MFA preferred. Additional expertise in sound is strongly desired.

Standard Work Days and Hours

This position is 0.5 FTE , benefits eligible during the academic year (approximately 27 hours/week for 38 weeks). Night and weekend work as needed.
