MEDICAL/NURSING ASSISTANT - ADVANCED

Job Description: The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to work in the Adult and Pediatric Health Care clinical area. This position necessitates an energetic and enthusiastic individual to assist with the outpatient health care management of children and adults. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to handle high volumes of phone calls and be able to communicate effectively with patients. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and the basic computer skills needed for entering data into the electronic medical record. Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial. The ideal candidate should be able to communicate with patients and patient families, as well as with other healthcare professionals. In addition, candidates should be able to work independently, prioritize and handle multiple tasks and complete tasks effectively and in a timely manner.

Currently, hours of clinic operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a rotating scheduled late day to cover patient care. Current basic CPR certification is preferred.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.


Minimum Qualifications: Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is required. If not CMA certified, candidates should have successfully completed the requirements from an accredited medical assisting program that permit eligibility to sit for a national CMA certification exam within six months of employment.


Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Advanced level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 57 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
