Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's Degree required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible administrative work and supervisory experience which includes student financial aid functions or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience navigating complex regulatory requirements.

Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, detail, and communication skills.

Position Summary:

The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) endeavors to generate, evaluate, and implement strategic initiatives that create sustainable, long-term improvements in the University of Wisconsin - Madison's financial aid programs and in alignment with OSFA's student-centric mission, vision, and goals.

The Assistant Director of Outreach & Advising assists in developing the initiatives and efficient procedures of advising students and coordinating outreach both on- and off-campus. The position is integral to ensuring that the daily duties performed by the unit best serve students, their families, and the campus community.

The Assistant Director of Outreach & Advising serves as deputy and principal advisor to the Associate Director of Outreach & Advising. Working independently to manage staff, the Assistant Director of Outreach & Advising will collaborate with the Associate Director to establish and oversee the strategic direction and operational objectives of the Outreach & Advising Unit. The Assistant Director of Outreach & Advising also serves an as expert resource person within the Office of Financial Aid and as a liaison to the campus community on various key administrative policies and practices.
