Description : The University of Delaware Library seeks a creative, organized and collaborative individual to serve as Digital Content Specialist. Reporting to the Head, Reference and Instructional Services Department, the Digital Content Specialist will work with a team of subject specialist librarians to develop engaging, pedagogically sound, accessible digital content with the aim of supporting student success and learning. Such content may include web-based tutorials, instructional videos, research guides, interactive tools, infographics, posters, and web pages. The position will work with library staff and other partners on campus such as instructional designers and educational technology consultants to ensure seamless delivery of such learning and research tools via multiple web platforms and learning management systems. The position will also have a key role in managing the library's suite of LibGuides, which serves as one of the primary platforms for the dissemination of instructional content and curated lists of resources to support specific courses. As project lead for digital content creation, the position will monitor best practices for the design of such materials and will provide training and support for librarians regarding multimedia technologies that can be used to facilitate online learning and outreach. The Digital Content Specialist will contribute to instruction, outreach and student engagement initiatives as a member of the Reference and Instructional Services team.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop a broad range of teaching and learning objects including but not limited to web-based, interactive tutorials, instructional videos, research guides, infographics and web pages in order to expand the library instruction program's integration within the course management system, in collaboration with subject specialist and instruction librarians.
  • Prioritize and manage projects through planning, development, production, and post-production phases
  • Maintain instructional assets and oversee the periodic review and refresh of content.
  • Participate in the assessment of online learning objects
  • Participate in instructional outreach initiatives to faculty, staff and students across campus in order to raise awareness of instructional services and resources.

Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, or related area. At least two years' professional experience in video production and editing. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, or other video editing and tutorial creation software; photography and videography proficiency. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of people, attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success in creating videos and other multimedia projects both independently and in a team. Experience with content management systems such as WordPress. Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize work.

Preferred: Experience in creating education-focused multimedia content; experience in or familiarity with instructional design practices or project management.
