Position Summary

The Bowdoin College Department of Romance Languages and Literatures is pleased to accept applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship beginning July 1, 2017 in Francophone Studies. We are looking for an innovative and committed teacher with a record of excellence in teaching French language, literature and culture since 1800 who demonstrates strong promise of successful scholarly engagement. Scholars doing interdisciplinary work are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and a commitment to the liberal arts.
Applicants for this fellowship must have completed their Ph.D. no earlier than January 1, 2014. Candidates who expect to receive their Ph.D. by July 1, 2017 should provide documentation from their home institution confirming this schedule. Applicants must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and a commitment to the liberal arts.
The fellowship carries a salary of $50,000 plus benefits. In addition, the position carries a $4,000 research and travel fund plus support to attend professional conferences.
Bowdoin College accepts only electronic submissions. Please submit a c.v., a letter of application describing your approach to teaching, and the names and contact information for three references who will provide letters of recommendation.
Review of applications will begin on April 15th, 2017 and continue until the position is filled.
