Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Programmer Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Advancement reporting efforts and reporting environment of more than a million entity records serving staff at ten USM institutions and offices (University of Maryland, College Park; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; University of Maryland Eastern Shore; University of Maryland University College; the University of Maryland Center for Environment Science; Towson University; Coppin State University; Bowie State University; Frostburg State University; the University System of Maryland Foundation).

The Programmer Analyst is responsible for developing/maintaining web-based applications and data warehouse reporting environments that interface with a relational database, leading data cleanup efforts, identifying data accuracy problems in the current database, and developing and implementing strategies for improvement. The position also provides assistance with custom report writing and supports distributed report writing tools within the Sungard Advance environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required.

Experience:
A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience required in web and client server development using embedded Sybase, SQL Server or Oracle enterprise databases programming languages ( SQL , PL/ SQL , T- SQL ) as well as SQL Reporting Services.

Experience must include:

-Experience evaluating and recommending current business processes and creating new reports using SQL Reporting Services.

-Direct interaction with customers and stakeholders.

-Experience developing enterprise reports using 3rd party software tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Technical knowledge to include developing/maintaining web-based applications that interface with a relational database.
-Ability to perform multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.
-Ability to effectively communicate with team and customers in a fast-paced environment is a necessity.

Preferences:

Training in the use of relevant technology and supporting tools is preferred.

Training in principles and techniques of database integrity and security is preferred.
