Hourly Rate or Monthly Salary: Starting $3,564.75 per month

Working Hours: One regular, part-time position, 30 hours per week, 10 months per year (August through May), in the MiraCosta College Child Development Center, on the Oceanside campus. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation. Special Instructions to Applicants:
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
If you have not previously passed the MiraCosta College secretarial in-basket test, you are expected to be present on Friday, March 31, 2017, from 2:30 - 4:00 PM to take the test. The test will not be given at any other time. Failure to take the test at the appointed time and place will eliminate you from the applicant pool. The test will be held in Rooms 3102 and 3103 on the Oceanside Campus at One Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA, 92056. A daily parking permit is required and can be purchased for $1.00 at the Parking Office, Bldg. 1100. The test will begin promptly at 2:30 PM. No one arriving after 2:30 PM will be admitted. Please call 760.795.6854 if you have any questions.

If you took the in-basket test within the last six months (after September 31, 2016) and did not pass, you are not eligible to take the test on March 31, 2017.

A copy of the results (certificate or screen shot) from the administering site must clearly state your name, net words per minute, and name of the source used for the keyboarding/typing test. Be sure to review this document after you have attached it to your application.

Basic Function and Other Details:
Under the direction of the Center Director, maintain responsibility for administration and operations of the office of the Child Development Center; perform responsible and specialized secretarial and clerical support and administrative assistance duties necessary to operate the Child Development Center in the absence of the Director.

Representative Duties:
(E = essential job function)

1. Coordinate Center operations by providing administrative assistance in researching technical subjects, compiling reports and summaries and providing accurate and timely information as requested; interpret and explain applicable legislation, education code, policies and procedures to program staff and others according to established guidelines; update and maintain policy and procedure manuals. (E)

2. Provide information concerning program activities, special events, policies and procedures; establish and maintain positive staff and public relations; ensure appropriate liaison with related community agencies. (E)

3. Prioritize and organize workload to perform duties in the most timely and efficient manner; arrange and schedule a variety of meetings and conferences; establish and maintain filing systems. (E)

4. Assist Center Director with special projects and events, including campus and community activities, as required; represent Center Director at District, community, regional and State functions as requested.

5. Collect and compile statistical and financial data and other information for inclusion into special and periodic reports; revise schedules, reports, records and other information as necessary; use computer systems to prepare reports, correspondence or records using a high degree of independent judgment. (E)

6. Communicate with District personnel and outside sources to resolve problems, schedule meetings, provide or receive information, schedule maintenance and repair of equipment; maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. (E)

7. Order and maintain office/Center supplies; prepare and process purchase requisitions according to approved procedures. (E)

8. Maintain budget balances; monitor expenditures of funds; maintain billing system of Child Development Center as required; prepare and send statements to participating families; forward bills to Bursar's Office; review accounts and follow up on discrepancies; implement established procedures to ensure payments are made in a timely manner. (E)

9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:

Desirable Qualifications:
