The Position:
The Senior Secretary will serve a Campus Dean, relieving the Dean of a variety of clerical, routine technical, and administrative duties. Tasks assigned to these Senior Applications are currently being accepted for three (3) Senior Secretary positions in the Office of the Campus Dean at the following Continuing Education campuses:

Secretaries require judgment and initiative on the part of the incumbent over a broad range of situations and alternatives.
Hours for all three (3) positions are Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:30PM. Selected candidates must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the needs of the Campus.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to interpret and follow oral and written directions including learning, understanding, interpreting, applying and explaining applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures and applying them with good judgment. Demonstrate mid-level, or higher, ability to utilize Microsoft office suite and proprietary software. Ability to independently assess, prioritize and perform position responsibilities in the absence of supervision. Ability to establish and maintain confidential, respectful, effective working relationships. Ability to perform accurate, detailed work and maintain organization while working under pressure to meet multiple deadlines and customer/student demands. Ability to work in support of an organizations/division/departments mission, vision, values and goals. Possess experience working with person of great diversity in socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities. All applicants must have demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.Experience: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years of increasingly responsible secretarial and clerical experience. One year of experience in an educational setting is desirable.Knowledge of: Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including letter and report writing, receptionist, and telephone techniques. Microcomputers and mainframe computer terminals. Computer software involving word processing, spreadsheets, on-line requisitions, and data bases. Modern filing systems and practices. Record-keeping techniques. Oral and written communications skills. Technical aspects of programs department operations. Basic principles of employee training and work direction. English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. District organization, operations, policies, and objectives. Interpersonal skills using tact, diplomacy and courtesy.

Pay Information:
Range 21 ($3,375.53 $5,388.12) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
