About the Office of Institutional Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides oversight, coordination, information resources, and data analysis for college planning, assessment and research.

Position Description:

As part of this position, the graduate student will be trained on several systems for data collection and analysis including: Qualtrics, SPSS, Excel, and Tableau. The graduate student will assist the Office of Institutional Effectiveness on projects as assigned, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting focus groups; analyzing, summarizing and writing results reports
  • Assisting College constituents with survey projects in Qualtrics, including interpretation of findings
  • Visualizing data in Excel and Tableau for reports and requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Assistantship Outcomes

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides a wide variety of collaborative learning experiences and projects as part of this assistantship. The intention is to prepare interested graduate students for careers in assessment and research in educational settings, particularly higher education.

By the end of the assistantship, the graduate student will be able to:

  • Collect, compile, analyze, summarize, and report qualitative and quantitative data for studies, assisting the College in data-driven decision-making
  • Identify the core functions of an institutional research office serving community college constituents
  • Describe the role of community college research in context of public higher education policies and practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in the Boston area in higher education, college student development, student affairs, educational psychology, sociology or related program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at the post-secondary level in student development or teaching
  • Knowledge of research methods and assessment practices
  • Experience  with qualitative research
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population

Additional Information:

Salary: 8-10 hrs./wk. @ $15.00/hr. (non-benefitted)
