EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT - JOURNEY

Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and managerial leadership to the Office of the Dean in the College of Health and Human Performance. This position participates in planning, budgeting, organization, personnel, and implementation of critical administrative functions for the College. This position is the Dean's personal and confidential Executive Assistant, having a direct impact on the image and reputation of the Dean's Office. The Executive Assistant keeps the Dean's calendar and supervises the Administrative Support Staff, which includes two full-time SHRA Administrative Support Associates and one part-time SHRA Administrative Support Associate (besides supervision, duties include evaluation, and performance reviews). Serves as Leave Clerk for the college which requires collection, documenting of accuracy, and submission for over 50 SHRA and EHRA-NF employees. Completes EPAFs for all personnel to include students, faculty, staff, temporary workers, etc., and approves grant-related EPAFs at the college level. Process OVERLOAD requests and criticality requests for departmental employees. Serves as a liaison with senior university administrators, department chairs, faculty, staff, students, and other constituents. This involves being familiar with the departments and organizations related to the College, the Division, and the many ECU departments with which the College interacts. This position has delegated authority on matters that do not require the Dean's direct attention. Expected to be aware of university policies and procedures, as well as various state regulations. Responsible for administrative scheduling, independent composition, and coordination of meetings. Critical components of this position are organizational ability and independence in performance of work responsibilities, as well as maintaining confidentiality and dealing with sensitive issues.


Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the
journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 64 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
